13 Clues: Guess My Guest
My email's just a-buzzin' with questions!
Y'all are way curious who next week's special guest is, aren't you? I'm really excited. And I HATE surprises...especially when I'm the one having to keep the secret.
So! What I'm going to do is give you a few clues. Guess my Guest in comments for a chance to win an autographed CD featuring my guest's work. Everyone who guesses correctly has a chance to win.
I'll give it a few days and will draw/announce on Monday.
Okay, here goes.
1) With over 10,000 career recording sessions, my bassist guest is one of the most prolific in the history of music session recording. Yes! You have heard many of these songs.
2) My guest's music career started in jazz guitar at the ripe old age of 14.
3) During the 60's and 70's my guest was the number 1 call studio session bassist in LA/Hollywood with record, television and movie companies, and is one of the most recorded bassists to date.

I would have to say Carol Kaye. I thought yesterday you might have been speaking of Mike Watt (he's extremely accomplished) but you let the cat out of the bag when you said she was "The First Lady of Bass".

It is most definitely the incomparable Carol Kaye.
I just love her work on Pet Sounds. I remember seeing video clips on the making of it and it was just so cool to see her jam.
I didn't know about all of the movie and tv show themes - my respect for her has grown immensely.
Can't wait to read the interview.

Now I'm even more into this, Carol. I'd have never had the courage to approach someone of this magnitude. But man, would I love to spend time with her!
Thanks for making that happen for me. At least a little bit.
